Detroit news, Michigan news.

Authorities in Detroit, Michigan are investigating after an 8-year-old boy shot himself in the face with his parents and his siblings present inside the home.

The boy was left fighting for his life after Friday’s tragic incident. Investigators suggested he knew where his parents were storing the weapon.

“The child was still alive and still breathing and still conscious when we got here,” said Warren Police Lt. Greg Bolton.

The family’s next-door neighbor, Ricardo Latham, recalled hearing the gunshot.

Bolton echoed Latham’s advice adding that new safe storage laws were implemented to help avoid such tragedies.
