A motorist was killed in a fiery crash early Thursday morning when their car plowed into a highway toll plaza in suburban Chicago.
Troopers responded to reports of a vehicle that struck the Barrington Road Toll Plaza along I-90 westbound in Cook County at around 4:25 a.m.
The vehicle became “engulfed in flames” after the crash, the Illinois State Police said.

Firefighters battled the fire for around half an hour. The driver was declared dead at the scene.
The tollway plaza was left damaged and surrounded by debris, photos from the tragic scene showed.
Authorities advised commuters to use Roselle Road or Route 59 as investigators process the scene.
