A one-year-old boy was tragically mauled to death by three dogs while being babysat at a Texas home on Monday.
Shiraz Amal Asirvadam succumbed to his injuries shortly after officers were called to the Duncanville home at around 11 a.m. Monday.
Police said that the babysitter who had been looking after her friends’ children for years owned the three dogs.
The involved shepherd mixes involved in the deadly attack were a 100-pound male and two 80-pound females.
“We took possession of the dogs. The dogs were confined in the house. They were not loose,” said Police Chief Matthew Stogner.
“The resident attempted to pull the dogs from the infant unsuccessfully until the officers got there.”
The police chief added that dogs were initially outside the residence where other children were also present.
“It’s a terrible thing. I don’t wish this on anybody. Especially her,” a neighbor of the babysitter said.
“I know she is devastated by this and will be for quite some time.”
