2 Alabama daycare workers charged with abuse of 2-year-old girl

Authorities in Shelby County, Alabama have charged two daycare workers over the alleged abuse of a 2-year-old girl.

Tanya Teresa Lapsley, 56, and Wanda Hearn Henderson, 63, are facing charges of aggravated child abuse in connection to the February 13 incident.

Charging documents allege that Henderson “forcibly jerked, pulled, snatched, slung the 2-year-old victim around causing bruises and marks while having custody of her inside the daycare facility.”

  • Lapsley allegedly “forcibly pulled, jerked, snatched, and tugged at the victim leaving marks and bruises. This was done while the defendant was caring for the victim inside a daycare.”

    The abuse occurred on more than one occasion at the Milestone Academy & Childcare in Montevallo, officials claimed.

    The suspects are detained at the Shelby County jail with their bond set at $180,000 each.
