A young Montgomery County Sheriff deputy died Friday night two days after a horrific on-duty crash, authorities said.
Deputy Jermyius Young, 21, succumbed to injuries he sustained Wednesday evening when he crashed while driving his patrol vehicle in the 4500 block of Hobbie Road.

Young was taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery in critical condition before being transferred to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Sheriff Derrick Cunningham said that the fallen deputy joined the office when he was 18.
“Deputy Young was a fine law enforcement officer. He was loyal, unselfish, and efficient.”
