Man fatally struck by train after being shoved onto Manhattan subway tracks in unprovoked attack

A Manhattan subway commuter was struck and killed by a moving train after being pushed onto the tracks in an unprovoked attack Monday evening.

The man was shoved onto the tracks just before 7 p.m. as a northbound 4 train entered the East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station, police said.

The victim was fatally struck when the train operator was unable to stop in time.

    Sources identified the attacker as 24-year-old Carlton McPherson. He was facing a prior assault charge but was still allowed into the streets after posting bond.

    Law enforcement flooded the East Harlem station late Monday as they worked to remove the victim’s body.

    Train lines 4/5/6 were “severely disrupted” and the service was rerouted to other tracks, according to the MTA.
