Daytona Beach news, Georgia news.

A Georgia couple was arrested after they were found unconscious and surrounded by empty beer cans with their two small children out of sight.

Volusia County authorities released body cam footage of the Saturday afternoon incident that started with witnesses calling 911 about the couple drinking on the beach.

Police were told that the couple had two little kids and seemed to have passed out leaving the children unattended.

“Time to wake up guys, hey…The sheriff’s office! Wake up!” deputies told the couple.

“You can’t have alcohol on the beach.”

The man, identified as Timothy Stephens, replied that he “only had like two beers.”

Police later located the children, aged 5 and 7, playing near a swimming pool at a nearby hotel.

Daytona Beach Shores city laws prohibit drinking alcoholic beverages on the beach.

“Where are my kids going to go?” Alyssia Langley asked deputies.

“To the family resource center, we’re going to take care of them, they’ll feed them, they’ll clothe them,” a deputy replied.

The couple was arrested while the children remained in the custody of the Department of Children and Families until their grandfather arrived and took them back to Georgia.
