A California toddler was found behind the wheel of a truck that fatally struck a 2-year-old girl at a Woodland gas station Saturday.

The father of the 3-year-old boy left him unattended in a car seat in the running Dodge truck and went into the store at around 3:45 p.m., police said.

The boy managed to get into the driver’s seat as the “truck began moving forward and it collided with a two-year-old child who was near a taco stand on the edge of the lot,” police said.

The victim, identified as Ailahni Sanchez Martinez, was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
