Columbia County news, Georgia news.

A young worker died a tragic death at a Georgia manufacturing facility after she got trapped underneath a conveyor belt while trying to retrieve her AirPod.

21-year-old Alyssa Drinkard was a contract employee at the Club Car where the freak accident claimed her life late Friday.

Coworker Fae’Zsha Smith was working across from Drinkard when she spotted the victim’s AirPod fall underneath the chain.

Smith recalled telling Drinkard not to try to retrieve it and that they would try when it was safer for them.

“I’m kind of traumatized from seeing her that way,” she said.

First responders found Drinkard unresponsive but still with a pulse after they took the machine apart. The young woman died at 5:50 a.m.

“She was always so sweet. She always had a smile on her face,” Smith described her late coworker.
