A 4-month-old girl has died after she was “literally beaten to death” by her 22-year-old father, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
Jacob Kubai, 22, was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child and child abuse among other counts over the death of his daughter Willow.
On Feb. 22, Willow arrived at Bartow Regional Medical Center with “no brain activity and suspicious physical injuries.”
She was airlifted to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa where doctors determined that she had a brain hemorrhage, a skull fracture, broken ribs, and bruises.
Two days later, Willow succumbed to her injuries. Judd said that while the investigation into the baby’s demise can “take many months”, her wounds “left no doubt how she was killed.”
“I don’t know how a father could do this to his child, but I do know he should be locked up for as long as the law allows,” Judd added.
Kubai was reportedly the only caregiver for Willow when she was abused while his wife was at work.
“The baby was literally beaten to death. The only person at home at the time was Jacob.”
