A missing woman’s body was found in a ditch alongside a northeast Houston road on Tuesday.
Police identified the remains found on the side of Beaumont Highway near the 610 Loop as 38-year-old Yadira Pena Castillo. She was reported missing on Feb. 18.
Castillo’s 10-year-old son lives with her mother in Cuba; her husband said she would call her mother every day to check on her child.

The man added that Castillo was working in the nightclub business in Houston and would visit him in Las Vegas.
“She was a really good person, a really good soul. She cared about everybody, about her friends, about her family,” he said.
The body was identified through fingerprints and had no signs of trauma; a cause of death is pending autopsy results.
