Uber driver shoots dead passenger who allegedly kidnapped him at gunpoint: Nashville Police

A young Nashville man is dead after he was fatally shot by an Uber driver who claimed he had kidnapped him at gunpoint.

Police received a 911 call from the Uber driver at 9:57 p.m. Thursday informing them that he was being kidnapped by Kyrin Gardner before the call was interrupted.

The driver called 911 again about 15 minutes later telling them that he shot Gardner and provided his location.

  • Gardner, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshots. A loaded pistol was found next to his body.

    The driver’s firearm was found in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. He told cops that the passenger became “agitated, pulled a gun, and began making threats” during their trip to a public housing area.

    Nashville Police are investigating the incident after getting the rideshare driver’s statement.
