Texas woman, 20, remains unaccounted for after suspected Uber driver takes own life

A Victoria, Texas woman remains missing despite extensive search efforts involving law enforcement and community members.

Amanda Stevensen, 20, vanished on November 19 near Salem Road. Her family reported her missing two days later and conducted search parties looking for her in locations where she might have been.

Investigators focused on a 45-year-old Uber driver who had been acquainted with the missing woman and would give her rides.

  • Kevin Bennetsen was interviewed by police for the first time last week. On Wednesday, he was pulled over for further questioning but he shot himself dead in front of cops.

    Stevensen was described as a white woman, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing around 125 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

    Victoria police are seeking the public's help to locate her, offering a reward and asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 361-572-4200.
