An 11-year-old Maryland girl was fatally shot by her stepfather who also shot her mom before taking his own life late Wednesday.
The man opened fire at the two victims just before 9:30 p.m. inside a townhouse in the 6900 block of Stansbury Lane.
Officers found the man and the girl dead at the scene. The girl’s mother was taken to a hospital with “non-life-threatening” injuries.

A family member confirmed that the incident was a murder-suicide perpetrated by the adult male victim.
Authorities said that the crime was not random adding that there is no threat to the community.
