Birmingham news, Alabama news.

A 20-year-old woman was found shot to death on the side of a southwest Birmingham road shortly after she texted her mom that she was being held hostage asking her to call the police.

A passerby found Mahogany Jackson dead from a gunshot at 17th Street S.W. and Laurel Avenue at 2:19 a.m. Monday.

“They killed my child,” Gail Maddox, Jackson’s mom, posted on Facebook hours later.

Maddox said that hours before Jackson’s body was located, she had received chilling texts from her early Sunday morning.

“She sent me a text message that said she was being held hostage and sent her location,” the mother said.
