Off-duty Harris Co. Sheriff’s deputy killed in major crash

An off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy died late Saturday in a major collision in Midtown, the department announced Sunday.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on X that a deputy was critically injured in the crash at around 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

A witness reported the deputy appeared to lose control of his vehicle before crashing on Travis near Richmond Avenue.
