A Minnesota girl was severely injured Thursday following an attack by a pack of dogs, authorities in St. Paul said.
7-year-old Sumaya was walking with her mother from the bus stop when a group of four to five dogs surrounded them.
The attack lasted several minutes before a neighbor intervened and scared off the canines.
“They bit her in the face and she also got bit in the back of the head,” a witness said.
The victim remains on strong pain medication after her release from hospital on Friday.
She lost pieces of her thigh, nose, and ear in the attack.
“I cannot imagine what this young girl went through last night,” St. Paul Public Information Officer Mike Ernster said.
“I can’t imagine what her mother went through as her child was being attacked by these dogs,”
“We want to find answers; we want to find them out for her and for this community.”
