A Jaywick, England woman was mauled to death by two dogs while visiting a home in Saturday.
Esther Martin, 68, died at the scene despite neighbors and first responders’ efforts to save her life.
Acting Chief Inspector Taks Shah commended the “brave neighbors” who “tried desperately” to help the victim before EMTs arrived.
“Their brave actions reflect what I know and love about this community,” Shah added.
The dogs attacked Martin at Ashely Warren’s home while she cared for his son. Warren said through tears that his two dogs, named Bear and Beauty.
“Never in a million years did I see [the dogs] as a risk. If my dogs did that to her, when I had never seen anything but love from them, then that breed just has a killer switch,” he said.
Both canines were put down, police said.
