Indianapolis man, 85, succumbs to injuries after he’s attacked by dogs in own backyard

An elderly Indianapolis man died Tuesday hours after he was attacked by two dogs in his own backyard, authorities said.

85-year-old Willie Mundine, a pastor at the Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church, was found on the city’s fat east side suffering multiple dog bites.

He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to the injuries hours later.

  • The victim’s granddaughter said she was in the backyard of her home with her grandparents when the dogs ran up and attacked them.

    “We ran and he couldn’t get in fast enough so we just heard him screaming and we went back there and they were attacking him,” she said.

    “It was just horrifying, scary. I’ve never seen him like that. I will never forget those cries.”

    An officer shot and injured one of the two dogs before it was impounded by animal control services.
