Gunman in late 80s fatally shoots 3 people before taking own life in LA home

A man in his late 80s is believed to be the perpetrator of a triple-murder suicide inside a Los Angeles home Saturday night.

Four people were found dead inside a home in the 11600 block of Lerdo Avenue just before 7 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Officers responded to a 911 call from a witness who was found barricading themselves inside the residence.

  • Police forced their way into the home where they found the surviving witness and three deceased victims: a man in his late 40s, a woman in her late 40s, and a woman in her late 80s.

    The suspected octogenarian was found in a different area of the residence with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.

    “The witness was inside and fortunately was not harmed during the incident and was able to barricade themselves and call the police,” said LA Police. Capt. Kelly Muniz.

    The victims’ identities and the motive for the tragic incident remain unknown.
