Tucson news, Arizona news.

Southern Arizona is set to face dangerously cold temperatures starting Friday as an arctic blast batters most of the U.S.

The National Weather Service warned Arizonians that temperatures will drop to 30 or below on Friday morning.

“Hard Freeze Watch in effect late Thursday night through early Friday morning for areas north and west of Tucson, including Tucson,” the NWS office posted on X.

“Temps are expected to drop into the low 20s, depending on the area. Planning to be outside during this time? Make sure to dress warmly!”

The cold wave will start to rise again over the next weekend.

The arctic blast is expected to grip most of the country including New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, northern Idaho and far northern Washington.
