The Atlanta Police Department is mourning the sudden death of one of their own who died after experiencing a medical emergency Thursday night.
Officer Kenya Galloway was headed to work when he died. He was found unresponsive in his car at around 11 p.m.
Galloway was declared dead at Grady Memorial Hospital.
“At this time, it appears the officer may have experienced a medical issue,” the police department said in a news release.
The 44-year-old officer served the community for nine years before being assigned to the Executive Protection Unit.
His colleagues formed a procession and carried his body from Grady to the medical examiner’s office in a show of respect and grief.
