A court hearing of a convict turned violent Wednesday when he pounced on the judge punching her multiple times.
Clark County District County Judge Mary Kay Holthus was sentencing Deobra Delone Redden after denying him bail when he hopped onto the bench and attacked her.
Footage from the scene shows the moment Redden launched a sudden assault on Holthus and tackled her while shouting profanities.
A marshal rushed to stop the assailant but Redden kept brutally punching the judge who could be heard begging him to stop.
Security officers arrived and restrained the depraved attacker who was being sentenced for aggravated battery with substantial bodily harm.
Judge Holthus and the marshal suffered injuries in the attack and both needed treatment.
“We commend the heroic acts of her staff, law enforcement, and all others who subdued the defendant,” the district court’s statement read.
