A Louisiana teen died in a fiery crash early Wednesday after leading Iberville deputies on a chase.
Sheriff Brett Stassi said the tragic outcome occurred after the teen’s stolen car was spotted driving recklessly and crashing multiple times.
Deputies pursued the car along La. 411 and deployed spike strips but the 16-year-old driver managed to “limp out of Iberville into Pointe Coupee.”
The SUV eventually crashed into a tree a few hundred yards into the parish.
Flames quickly engulfed the vehicle killing the driver. A 13-year-old girl was rescued from the passenger’s seat just before the fire erupted.
The teens’ identities were not made public as the Louisiana State Police investigated the crash.
