Murder suspect takes own life following confrontation with Police

A Pacifica man wanted for a double stabbing was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a confrontation with police.

A manhunt for Jason Gillenwater started Thursday after he stabbed his ex-wife and a friend of hers in the Vallemar neighborhood killing the man.

Police said one of the victims had an emergency protection order against Gillenwater who was found dead near his car in Ukiah later Thursday.

  • “The suspect, 46-year-old Jason Gillenwater, was deceased near his vehicle from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Pacifica Police said.

    Authorities said Gillenwater and his ex-wife were involved in a domestic incident earlier this week.

    The suspect was arrested following the Dec. 14 incident and booked at the San Mateo County Jail before posting bond.
