Austin news, Texas news.

Authorities in Texas announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a crime spree across two cities that left six people dead and two officers wounded on Tuesday.

Four people were found dead in two Austin homes and two others were killed in a San Antonio area home about 80 miles away from the first crime scene, Austin Police Chief Robin Henderson said.

“We strongly believe one suspect is responsible for all of the incident,” Henderson said adding that it remains unclear whether the slain victims were connected to the suspect.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said that the San Antonio killings appeared to have taken place before those in Austin.

The suspect also injured a male cyclist and another officer responding to the Austin crime scene where two people were killed.

Police chased the suspect, who remains unidentified, before he crashed at a highway intersection at around 7:15 p.m. and was taken into custody.

“Texans grieve for the loved ones of the six Texans who were murdered by a hardened criminal who must never see the light of day again,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said.
