U.S. Army wife kills 11-month-old son on military base home so he would ‘be with Jesus and God’

A Georgia mother of three and U.S. Army wife was arrested this week for allegedly cutting her 11-month-old son’s throat killing him.

April Evalyn Short, 30, was with her two other children at their military base home when she allegedly cut the baby’s neck with a knife on Wednesday.

Staff Sergeant James Short was at work at around 8 a.m. when he received a text from his wife mentioning God and informing him that “The days of darkness are upon us.”

  • Short rushed to the home to find April barricading herself with the three children inside a bedroom. He then called 911.

    After April’s arrest, the slain baby was found wrapped in a plastic shower curtain in the bathroom.

    A 6-year-old girl told police her mother said she “was going to help” the infant “be with Jesus and God” and urged them not to “come into the bathroom because it might be really scary.”
