A missing Kentucky toddler was found dead in Whitley County Friday, one day after they located her custodian who had also disappeared last September.
When deputies found 24-year-old Brittany Slaughter on Thursday, they did not find 2-year-old Chloe Darnel with her.
The two were reported missing this week but went mysteriously missing in September.
On Friday, authorities said that a body believed to be Chloe was found in Whitley County. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Slaughter and 34-year-old Adam Hayes were charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence in connection with Chloe’s death.
“This is still an active investigation, and further charges could be possible,” the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department added.
