Austin news, Texas news.

Two officers were shot, including one fatally, in a shootout with a suspect who allegedly killed two people inside an Austin home early Saturday morning.

Interim Police Chief Robin Henderson fought back tears as she told reporters in a news conference that the officers were among a SWAT team called to help stabbing victims at around 3 a.m. Saturday.

It all started when a woman called 911 to report that she was being stabbed prompting a police response.

“SWAT officers arrived on scene and forced entry into the residence…to rescue the victims. As SWAT officers entered the suspect immediately fired his gun at the officers and the SWAT officers returned fire.”
