A Louisiana toddler has died Wednesday after he was fatally run over by his unsuspecting father.
Authorities in Jefferson Parish said that Nestor Maradiga inadvertently ran over his 2-year-old son Elian while backing out of a parking space on Houma Boulevard in Metairie.

The man told deputies he was unaware that Elian was in the parking lot as he got ready to leave for work at around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday.
The boy died at the scene and foul play is not suspected in his death.
Authorities took a blood toxicology test to rule out drug and alcohol involvement in the accident.
