Military officials have identified the victim of a shooting at Camp Lejeune as a 19-year-old North Carolina man who aspired to become a Marine like his father.

Lance Cpl. Austin Schwenk was fatally shot in his barracks room on Wednesday by a fellow Marine who has since been arrested.

The death was initially reported as a mass shooting before officials rectified the information, deeming the incident a homicide.
