Base officials said Thursday that a Marine was killed and another was arrested in connection with the death at Camp Lejeune late Wednesday.
At about 10:15 p.m., a homicide took place in a barracks room, authorities said in a statement.

The incident came a couple of days before the annual training known as Exercise Urgent Response set to be conducted at the North Carolina base.
The training “provides an opportunity for tenant commands to develop and exercise emergency security procedures,” the base said in a press release.
