2 children dead in ‘accidental’ Michigan house fire

A tragic house fire in Kalamazoo, Michigan has killed two children early Monday, officials announced.

The blaze was reported at around 2 a.m. when firefighters and emergency crews rushed to the home to find out that an adult and a child had managed to escape the massive blaze.

Firefighters were met by heavy flames on the first floor of the house before the fire quickly spread to the second floor.

The bodies of 4-year-old Evelyn Blackport and 7-year-old Elliot James Blackport were unfortunately located inside the charred structure.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety expressed its “sincerest condolences to the families of the victims.”

Authorities believe that the blaze was accidental but an official cause of death remains under investigation.
