A fatal wrong-way collision on Interstate 17 in north Phoenix killed one person and wounded two others early Saturday, police said.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said that a driver traveling northbound on southbound lanes for nearly five miles ended up crashing into another car not far from Dove Valley Road.

Authorities confirmed that one person was killed but did not provide their identity. It remains unclear whether impairment was involved in the crash.
The fatal crash caused a temporary shutdown of the interstate as investigators processed the scene.
