California authorities said that two children died Monday morning after falling into a pool at a San Jose home daycare.
A third child was rescued and is expected to survive; Police and first responders rushed to the daycare at around 9 a.m.
It was revealed that the pool has a fence, gate, and pool cover. In a recent state, services visit to the daycare, it was cited for not documenting safe sleep checks every 15 minutes.
“It just breaks my heart because when I take her to school, I watch the families bring their kids and you see their faces; It’s heartbreaking,” a neighbor said.
An investigation is ongoing by the San Jose Police Homicide Unit and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
