Crash involving pickup truck, Amish buggy leaves 2 toddlers dead in New York

Authorities in Jefferson County, New York are investigating a deadly crash involving a pickup truck and an Amish buggy on Wednesday.

A 1-year-old and a 3-year-old died in the crash that unfolded at around 2:20 p.m. on County Route 2.

  • 26-year-old Charlene Kring was behind the wheel of the pickup that she drove into the back of the buggy traveling in front of her.

    Two occupants of the buggy were hospitalized in addition to three children, one of whom later succumbed to their injuries. The other toddler died at the scene.

    Kring did not sustain injuries. The crash sparked a multi-agency response and is still under investigation.
