Missouri pastor goes on crime spree against family stabbing 6 people; setting home on fire

A Missouri pastor was arrested and charged with several counts of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed his family members and set their home on fire on Saturday.

Mathew Lee Richards, 41, is accused of stabbing six people including four children, a 19-year-old, and a woman before starting a fire at the 6600 block of Goode Drive home.

Firefighters responded to the residence just before 4 a.m. and extinguished the flames. The victims were found inside, suffering from lacerations.

  • As of Saturday afternoon, the woman and two children were still hospitalized while the 19-year-old and two other children were released from hospitals.

    Richards, who also received treatment for minor injuries, was booked into jail on a $5 million bond.

    He is a children’s pastor at Crossroads Christian Church in Shawnee, local media outlets revealed.
