‘It goes by fast’: College student suddenly dies after practice leaving chilling note on HS yearbook

A beloved Sacramento athlete has suddenly passed away Monday after a football practice, officials said.

Justin McAllister had just joined the Sacramento City College coming from Western Oregon University, his family and friends said.

The 6-foot-7 offensive tackle excelled in three sports during his time at Delta High School.

  • “It’s devastating,” Principal Craig Cornelson said. “He performed at the highest level and did everything seriously with a good heart.”

    McAllister’s cause of death has yet to be determined. In his high school senior yearbook, the late player left a disturbing note that read “It goes by fast.”

    “It kind of helps us reflect on what’s important. We have to make the most of what we have and put our best foot forward,” Cornelson added.
