An inmate died after suffering a medical emergency at the Harris County Jail, authorities said.
Raymond Cooper, 62, died Thursday after suffering a health emergency while in the medical ward of the facility.

Despite lifesaving measures divulged at the scene, Cooper was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
“The Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Division is also investigating to determine whether all applicable policies and procedures were followed, which is standard following the death of a person in jail,” a department’s statement read.
The inmate’s cause of death remains undetermined pending autopsy results.
