‘She would never left her baby’: Husband of missing 20-year-old mom charged after body found in Virginia woods

A Virginia mother who went missing a week ago leaving her infant son unattended was found dead in woods and authorities have charged her 21-year-old husband with murder.

On Tuesday, the body of 20-year-old Avriel Hooks was located in a wooded area of Amherst hours after detectives questioned Michael L. Perry in connection with her disappearance.

  • Hooks was reported missing by her family on August 23, the same day her mother received a suspicious text from her saying that she was at a friend’s home for some “me time.”

    “She would never let that baby out of her sight at all,” Avriel’s sister said of her 5-month-old nephew.

    “She would hold that baby, she held that baby constantly. He had the stuff he needed, that’s all that mattered to her. She could care less about herself.”
