A California teen and a double-murder suspect were arrested this week for the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy earlier this month.
Alfonso Ramos died on August 12 when he was fatally shot at the Evergreen Park Recreation Center.
Investigators said that Ramos was chased inside the park and assaulted before being shot to death.
On Thursday, police announced the arrest of a 14-year-old suspect and 26-year-old Michael Monarrez in connection with Ramos’ death.
“I’m happy they got them,” the victim’s mother said. “I’m happy they did. I’m just not happy it’s a child doing this to another child.”
“It hurts. It really does. No mother, no parent, should bury their own child.”
Authorities said that after Ramos’ death, Monarrez was involved in the deadly shooting of another victim, Fermin Ruelas, 45.
