Police said that the incident occurred in broad daylight at around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and U Street in DC.

The victim reported that the 12-year-old suspect had what looked like a firearm in his waistband when he approached her and asked for the car keys.
