A Washington boy was arrested on armed carjacking charges after he allegedly threatened a woman to give him her car keys outside a restaurant on Sunday.
Police said that the incident occurred in broad daylight at around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and U Street in DC.
The victim reported that the 12-year-old suspect had what looked like a firearm in his waistband when he approached her and asked for the car keys.
“I was just shaken up by it. I didn’t really know how to feel. I was frozen,” the victim recalled.
When she refused to hand over her car keys, the preteen fled away on foot before he was arrested a short time later with a firearm in his possession.
“[Youth violence] is horrible. It’s gotten so bad and that age limit is just going younger and younger,” the victim said.
