A disturbing animal abuse case is being investigated in Florida after the owner of a tiny dog admitted to beating the poor creature to near death when he “got mad.”

James Michael Lyster, 52, was charged with aggravated animal cruelty in connection with the Monday incident.

Neighbors complaining of noise sent Lee County officers to the suspect’s Park Crest apartment at 3 a.m.

“At the front door, deputies observed blood spatter on the ground leading to that apartment,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said.

“The suspect eventually opened the door, and when asked if he had a dog, the suspect dropped an 8-year-old Pomeranian without saying one word.”

“The shaking dog’s face was covered in blood, and it was actively bleeding from its nose, and it was so injured that it could not stand.”

Deputies also reported finding blood in Lyster’s bedroom, living room, and bathroom.

Lyster, a convicted felon with a lengthy rap sheet, admitted to the crime adding that he “got mad”.

“That’s not a human being that does that to a poor, defenseless little animal,” Marceno commented.
