One day after he fell overboard during boating trip; body of Florida college student recovered from lake

The lifeless body of a 19-year-old Florida college student was recovered from waters “with zero-visibility” Thursday, one day after he fell overboard while on a trip with his pals on Lake Como.

Graham McGrath’s body was recovered at around 11:20 a.m. ending nearly 16 hours of extensive search.

“We were hoping and praying that we were going to find him in good health,” said Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno.

“Unfortunately, that was not the case.

    The Florida Gulf Coast University student was with 13 friends at the time of the tragedy but investigators said that he was alone aboard the private large vessel.

    It remains unclear how the teen “went over the boat” and “never returned”.

    “I can tell you that they were swimming, they were recreating – as we want Floridians to do,” Marceno said. “It's a very, very unfortunate situation and accident.”
