Delray Beach news, Florida news.

An elderly Florida man is accused of a heinous crime after his wife's mutilated body was found in three suitcases and two bags tossed along the Intracoastal waterway in Delray Beach.

Police Chief Russ Major said that 78-year-old William Lowe was arrested on Thursday over the killing and dismemberment of his wife Aydil Barbosa Fontes.

Fontes' remains were discovered on July 21 and July 22 in different suitcases and bags, police said.

Witnesses reported spotting Lowe's car several times in the area and an airline scan code on one of the suitcases indicated his address, police revealed.

Detectives said that they were “very certain” they have the right suspect after they discovered blood spatter inside Lowe's home and in the shower drain. A 9mm firearm was also recovered.

“I'd say this is probably the worst I've seen,” Detective Mike Liberta said.
