3 people killed when freight train crashes into car in Oregon

Oregon authorities said that three people were killed in a crash involving a freight train and a vehicle north of Salem on Wednesday.

At around 7 p.m., a 2002 Honda tried to cross railroad tracks while traveling west on farm access south of Gervais, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators said that the car driver did not obey a traffic control device before the deadly crash.

    Anselmo Caballero Herrera, 26, survived the crash with critical wounds and was hospitalized by a life flight crew.

    The Sheriff's Office said that impairment was not the cause of the crash.
