NJ dad dies saving his three children from drowning

A New Jersey dad died Wednesday afternoon while attempting to save his three children in a river, police said.

The South River resident managed to rescue his kids, aged 8, 11, and 13 – after they “became distressed” in Millstone River, police in Franklin Township said.

  • Authorities said that the 42-year-old father was unaccounted for when first responders arrived and treated the kids at the scene.

    His body was located and recovered about three hours by a Somerset County Prosecutor's Office diving unit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Police did not disclose the father's identity. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
