An Ohio dog rescue owner is facing several charges after officials found dozens of deceased and living dogs in horrific conditions in her two Butler County properties.
Deputies with Butler County responded to a complaint this week and made the shocking discovery of at least 90 living dogs in “the most horrible conditions they have ever seen.”
About 30 deceased dogs were discovered inside refrigerators and freezers across the properties; some of the coolers were not functioning.
Temperatures inside the garage were many of the living dogs were kept reached 89 degrees with no access to food or water.
The odor was too overwhelming for the deputies and first responders that their eyes burned and they couldn't breath as they processed the scene.
“Conditions were so horrendous that dog wardens had to leave the structure numerous times to catch their breath,” the Sheriff's Office added.
Investigators said that the owner of the two properties is the same person operating the Helping Hnds for Furry Paws rescue, Rhonda Murphy.
Murphy was arrested and charged with dozens of counts of misdemeanor and felony charges including neglect and cruelty to animals.
