3-year-old boy taken off life support days after falling into water storage tank at Vermont resort

A 3-year-old boy was declared dead days after he fell into a water storage tank while attending a day camp program at a resort in Vermont.

On July 6, Tate Holtzman plunged into the below-ground tank while walking to a splash pad at the Smugglers' Notch Resort, Burlington authorities said.

  • Tate was pulled out of the storage tank after spending around 10 minutes underwater. He was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center where he remained on life support until the weekend.

    “He is at peace now,” a GoFundMe page for Tate's family read. “The Holtzman family is going through unspeakable, unthinkable anguish.”

    Tate's cause of death was ruled as accidental drowning.
