A 42-year-old West Virginia worker died Tuesday afternoon after he was electrocuted while fixing lighting at a St. Albans shopping center, officials said.
The victim was found unresponsive on lift equipment shortly after 3:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of MacCorkle Avenue, police said.
First responders transported him to Thomas Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A second worker suffered injuries and was treated at the scene. St. Albans Police Chief Marc Gilbert revealed that the victim touched a live wire and bumped into his worker who then quickly shut the power off.
The workers were alone in the building at the time of the incident. An investigation was launched by the Occupation Safety and Health Administration.
